Mediator

Mediation is a powerful tool if the tension in an environment has mounted thus far, that the concerned parties are unable to resolve it themselves. In this case, support from a neutral mediator can be a solution. As a mediator, I will guide the process, so that agreements can be made about solutions that every party can agree with.

I am specialised in mediations in labour environments. For example, colleagues that have a conflict about the cooporation, or an employer and employee that disagree on performance.

In addition, I can help in cases of lay-offs, to get proper agreements. The advantage, compared to taking the matter to court, is that the concerned parties can make their own decisions on agreements. While in court, the influence on the result is limited. In addition, the dismissal process through mediation is shorter, cheaper and less (emotionally) draining for the involved parties.

Besides labour mediations, I also mediate private conflicts, as long as there is an intention to solve the issue together. Due to various circumstances, tensions can increase, which makes it difficult for the concerned parties to start a process of change. With the support of a mediator, patterns become clear, and can be broken.

Mediation process

In the individual intake interviews with all concerned parties, everyone can share their perspective and story without being inhibited by the presence of others. Moreover, it allows me to see whether there is a click with me, which is important to be able to trust me in the whole process.

In most situations, joint mediation meetings will follow. Usually, three joint meetings is enough, even if the conflict has been ongoing for some time, or has escalated. The goal of my mediation is always to achieve sustainable improvement. If the involved parties agree mutually to end the (work-)relationship, I can guide with that, which is in practice also sustainable improvement. If mediation is used at an early stage, usually a single meeting is sufficient.

The cost of mediation are paid by the employer. As often no more than three meetings are needed, the costs are usually no more than €1350 ex VAT/BTW, and often substantially lower.
